I took my knitting project to Kerala expecting to be drenched in sweat whenever I worked on it. However, it feels just like fabric(?). It's neutral - neither cool nor hot. Years of thinking that wool is warm weather clothing just reversed now.

Just found out that Juniper has mixed toe beans. First time seeing that in a cat ! 😺
Also, I truly forgot how naughty boi cats can be in comparison to girls.

Juniper is up for adoption in #bangalore
He's a 6 year old, neutered boi who loves chatting and dogs. He only likes cats that he has seen grow up in front of his eyes. He's never been adopted because of this and has spent years bouncing around fosters.
If you would like to take him home, please DM.

Hello Knitting & Crocheting Bluesky, what does one knit with a single ply handspun yarn? It's all wool and feels sturdy. I have no experience of working with singles. Hence, the skeet.
Bonus: cat peets in frame.

May she live long in our memories and longer in our stories.

Day 10: #untilMayacomeshome
She was found! She was locked away in the basement of a house where she might have been hiding. Part of me is relieved to have her back. Part of me is scared for her.

However, she's back and using all her nine lives. She even managed to take a swipe at the vet. 😺

Day 9: #untilMayacomeshome
Foster cat is doing alright in the hospital. It is cold and windy and that makes me think of Maya, who used me as a source of warmth all the time.

To get over the double whammy, I finished spinning one ball of the Indian sheep wool. Working on another right now. 🧶

Day 8: #untilMayacomeshome
When it rains, it pours.
My new foster cat is sick with parvo. We've had Simba for 5 days and he only started looking lethargic yesterday.
I'm hoping that we caught it early enough for him. I knitted as we waited for the results; might have to quarantine that project. 🧶

Day 7: #untilMayacomeshome
More public knitting.

On the one hand, I'm getting a lot of outdoor exercise walking around the area she went missing.
On the other hand, she's still missing.

Maggie only recently started sleeping in one of their disputed spots. It broke my heart that she moved on.

It is hard to write about Maya. This is the cat who curled up against me when she was giving birth to her babies. It's hard to feel like I failed her by putting her in boarding. To have to hold hope at the same time is almost impossible. I know that she's coming back though.

Day 5 & 6: #untilMayacomeshome

On day 5, I plied the eri silk top. It was satisfying and I have my own yarn now!

Day 6 involves spinning Indian sheep wool for the first time. This teeny tiny ply makes me feel good but it's barely the second time I have spun something.
Maya is still adventuring.🧶

Day 4: #untilMayacomeshome

Day 3 was a washout. We went looking for the Madame, who is still adventuring.

Today, I worked on the Lempi cardigan while sipping on what Stabrucks wants to call a filter coffee. Anyone else find that mindfulness works only when your anxiety is at a lower level? 🧶

Day 2: #untilMayacomeshome
Spun some eri silk top and thought about how much free time modern humans have when we don't have to make everything from scratch.

Also prayed to Goddess Bast, whose protection we hope is on Maya. As an atheist, that is a sentence I never thought I would say.

Day 1: #untilMayacomeshome

Hand-stitching lace to upcycle a linen shirt.

When it rains, I wonder where the girl is hiding.

It is now a month and a day since my cat Maya went missing. This is the last picture I took of her.

To keep myself centred and focused while we search for her, I am scheduling an hour of crafting for myself starting today. No screens or distractions.

Being in your mid-30s means that you don't care anymore if anyone calls your hobbies "granny-like". You will pull out your knitting in public too!
