Iowa's House File 274, which would criminalize librarians, passes out of the House Education Committee. It can now be heard on the floor.

What this bill is, what it would mean for library and school workers, and why it was rushed through.

The punkers met up at a park every Wednesday and Saturday, then when they were banned from the park they were invited into Luteran Open Work evenings, which were spaces that were--for a time--exempt from state surveillance and fostered oppositional movements.

Stasi archives of photographs documenting punk culture when being a punker really meant something, nowadays we have punkologists (to quote Kim Gordon) and consumers

reading Burning Down the Haus about punk in East Germany, such a history is possible because of the bureaucratic apparatatus' love of documentation, the history of any kind of resistance in the 21st century will vanish because it is recorded on servers that will eventually fail

annoyed that i've told yt to not show me ai music channels but it still does, there are so many albums made by humans existing in social historical material contexts that informed their musical tendencies that i would rather listen to than someone's genrefied slush with bad comic book art

Genre isn't real, but musical tendencies are and those are more interesting to track. Aspiring to genre is a way to put the musical cart before the horse and wouldn't you rather go for a gallop?
Determining the genre of music by how it sounds doesn't really do anything. If you learn that a piece of music is "ambient", this tells you nothing important. More interesting is determining genre by what the music does. Maybe it is a historical-romance, a picaresque, a whodunit, or bildungsroman.

Grimes wrote one good song and she stole the music video concept from Naomi Elizabeth and I forget what its called and I haven't listened to it in years and I honestly don't care about her but this is my contribution to the discourse.

People are talking about what is going on in the world more cogently and humorously than I can. Learning about krautrock for me is about music, but its also about studying a project rooted in the desire for a new collective identity that isn't tied to the violence of nationalistic hegemony.
