Thanks for reading. To start: Scientists recommend and community members have long urged growers to stop using toxic chemicals near communities and convert to organic ag near places live, work and play, starting with those most exposed. Phase out OPs and other classes of clearly harmful effects.

Just this week, the #ChiquitaCanyonLandfill received a "public nuisance" violation for “discharging such quantities of air contaminants to cause injury, detriment, nuisance or annoyance to a considerable number of persons" every single day. That's "normal." /6

The LA County Health Dept. reported receiving about 700 complaints during the #AlisoCanyon disaster. It received more than 29,500—that's right, 29,500—complaints from residents living near #ChiquitaCanyonLandfill. And the regional air district cited the landfill with hundreds of violations. /5
