A new one for me - 1911 census on a farm in Lincolnshire, turns out as well as the family there was a man who had been 'found to have slept in the barn on the premises'

It has just been announced that there will be an increase in fees for Principal Probate wills from 17 November 2025.

The fee for a copy of the will rises from £1.50 to £16 per document. Over a 1000% rise.

Any wills you have been thinking of getting copies of now is the time!

Does anyone know of a a speaker who can give a presentation on the life of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson? The Garrett family has strong links with Suffolk. The preference would be to have someone deliver an in-person presentation but via Zoom is also acceptable. Thanks

A nice piece of marginalia from a late 16th century Norfolk will register. Not sure what it is... some sort of squid possibly?

The testator was a yeoman farmer from a parish some distance from the sea so I can't see any obvious connection. And it's not a pun on his name either!
