I’m excited to follow up on some of the great discussions & conversations from across the conference!

Thank-you to the organisers @cvonbastian.bsky.social, @vmloaiza1.bsky.social, & team for an excellent conference - my first experience of #ESCoP2025, & I’m already looking forward to the next 😊

Lastly, I presented data looking at the influence of ‘other’ when attributing mental states, and potential biases in mentalizing processes - are we better able to attribute mental states to people the same-age as us?

*but it’s awkward to post a photo of myself so here’s a photo of the venue ☺️

Our penultimate speaker was Heather Ferguson (@kent.ac.uk), who presented fascinating data examining mechanisms of social cognitive changes in older age, including social attention, mental state attribution, and visual perspective taking
lizziebradford.bsky.social
We then heard from Andrew Surtees (@uob-sop.bsky.social) about how mood can impact children’s mentalizing processes - are children like adults, becoming more egocentric when in happier moods? Is it helpful to be sad?!
lizziebradford.bsky.social
Next up, @profjristic.bsky.social told us about the impressive impact of ‘a look’ - detailing the rich information eye gaze can provide, and how well we can interpret intention behind gaze
lizziebradford.bsky.social
Kicking off the session, @toschu.bsky.social presented interesting data on the link between developmental trajectories of Theory of Mind and psychopathology, across early childhood and preadolescence
lizziebradford.bsky.social
A particular thanks to the fantastic speakers who were part of the ‘Current Perspectives on Mentalizing: Social Cognition Across Contexts’ symposium, covering a range of topics on our understanding of mentalizing processes - and influential factors - across developmental and lifespan perspectives
