You wouldn't believe I'm originally from one of the snowiest parts of the US until you see how much worse I feel on a 30 degree day.

I always thought the moral was that royals are picky. /j

I write to express a feeling first and foremost, but there's elements that are always there because I know my readers. The core of the story is for me and the way it's told is for my readers.

That's so fair. If it can change settings decently easily then you may as well write whatever setting is appealing!

Well, why is it a chore? Is it boredom, lack of understanding, or you're just not interested in that period, what? Maybe that will help you determine how to fix it?

I’ve always taken it quite playfully. I love writing, genuinely! But part of any art is getting frustrated when it’s not going the way you want (or not at all with writing sometimes). I’ve always heard it as “(I love it but sometimes) I hate (parts of) it.”

Agreed though, marketing is a real hell.

The kicker is that art is already accessible. If you can type a prompt, you can open up a Word document and start your own novel. The "worst" novel from the heart will always win over regurgitated machine plagiarism. But if they understood that they'd stop trying to use AI to replace having a soul.
