Low publishing fees is not loss leading behavior. The cost to publish is low outside of things that publishers already do, like advertise, certify, etc.

There is not substantial cost to the bottom two "indie" game dev options and I am confident the partner program does not have egregious fees and if anything might reduce the royalties.

What's this about value in giving them a cut? There's no value for any of them. The value is against upfront porting costs and any ongoing maintenance costs.

Library streaming is on the way. The rotation isn't perfect but there's always enough to fill the need. Agreed it's not optimal. MS has recently got way more Squeenix coverage and seems to have Atlus safe from exclusives to Sony. Those translate nicely to mobile imo.

I play on my phone with a Backbone wherever there's WiFi. GamePass works basically no matter what, and local streaming from my physical Xbox works well most places (granted, I have symmetrical upload speed at home).

I would agree but the cost of custom silicon keeps getting cheaper. What probably happens is Intel bids crazy low for the next Xbox and it loses performance head to heads with PS6 but upscales fine, so most games target it anyway.

I've gone down the rabbit hole of what my experience would be like with competing platforms and the simple fact is, gaming both at home and on the go is only easier with Nintendo (and that comes with its own limitations).

MS created an infinitely better platform this generation, right as everyone hit lockdown and stayed home. Game Pass streaming at this point is excellent and is by far the best way to experience handheld-oriented RPGs like Octopath Traveler.

I think one important distinction in all of this is that Windows is functionally a hardware platform. SteamOS is decent enough and both Intel and AMD are working on those platforms, but SteamOS revenue will not match laptop revenue. The HW optimizations in Windows are likely to win out.

No, the first thing was election blaming and self-persecution. I believe neither thing. I strongly believe in trans rights and don't see trans people as self-persecuting.
