every time i update my software i regret it

ah yes how stupid of me, why would i wish to access my own files from the device that they're on

always weird to me when people propose using LLMs for anything other than cheating homework assignments. i get that it makes it easier if english is your second language but we already had tools for checking spelling and grammar that didn't burn up the earth, as well as good old paper dictionaries

or they plain forget that the data is just a proxy for things in the real world, and manipulating the proxy isn't the same thing as manipulating the world. the data could be wrong, or it could not reflect what people assume it reflects so manipulating it doesn't have the inteded effect, etc etc

the harm of algorithms isn't that they can "subtly" manipulate us, bc they're too crude to do that and there's no reliable proxies for "positive attitudes about the government"

a real harm is that you get flagged for fraud bc other people with foreign names are more often investigated for fraud

so it may seem like a particular geographical area in the netherlands is particularly sad bc there's a wheather station there that often uses the word "neerslag" which is classified under words associated with sadness

I'm gonna look up which clauses are automatically void and which are voidable bc it'll be on my exam lol

currently thanking the writers of het Burgerlijk Wetbook for making it so that unreasonably burdensome clauses can't be enforced against protected groups such as renters and consumers
