When I come to the office midwinter, the sun is just coming up and this view to the southeast over Minneapolis gives me a little hope that the light returns, spring will come.
Tough times in this city, under attack from our government, so maybe you need this view too.

you read this as flippant, and perhaps you know him and know better, but I read this as asshole. I don't know him, but in a world full of wonderful books and not enough hours in a day, this isn't someone I want to spend any time around.

I think a lot about Gene Demby's NPR "code switch" piece on Maklemore performing "Thrift Shop" dressed as the worst stereotype of an antisemitic meme. It ends with a metaphor about "accidental" black face.

I’ve been debating whether to share this, but … I figured out yesterday what song he was singing and then they played it so he could sing along with it. I honestly think it’s amazing how he’s following pitch and feel.
