Trying to make the jump from Maya to Blender, mainly to not have to deal with Autodesk's bullshit, and also cause of a possible Linux shift. And ughh. Im sure its great software once youre used to it but its real annoying having to relearn all this crap. Shifting between modes feels clunky

Played some Copper Odyssey for a game club im a part of. Beat the first area (well, its not really the first but its nonlinear so idk) and dont feel too inclined to finish it. Idk, I guess I didnt 'get' it? It feels like a big inside joke that Im not a part of. I liked Hylics better

It is sale time, which means that a LOT of people are gonna be able to afford really cool releases, which means that it is time to make a thread recommending cool releases!

Gonna update this until the sale finishes! (Also, check out my curator page!)

Steam Curator: Below 25 Gems
Games, mostly of the indie variety, that I consider to be worthwhile with a cost below 25 dollars/euro. This isn't limited to any specific genre, but expect a ton of single player experiences.

Another excellent recommendation by @lorddarias.bsky.social!

A fantastic 2-hour atmospheric 3D platformer, centered around using a pole as an intuitive traversal tool!

Its setting and lore has shades of Shane Acker's 9. If you're a fan of that, you'll surely LOVE this!

Cataloguing a few examples of games where the endgame (or even just the Final Boss) is a giant leap in difficulty from the rest of the game, far beyond what you'd expect just from being the final challenge.

'Endgame Difficulty Spike of Death' a list of games by LordDarias | Backloggd
Conventionally the final boss or levelgauntlet etc should be the hardest challenge the game has to offer the peak of the difficulty coinciding with the climax of the story or progression Sometimes tho...

Its incredible how quickly a game can piss away all the goodwill its built up with one single gameplay section. I dont want to vague post so Ill just say that I was really enjoying Serra de Deus as a life sim/hot dog vendor sim and then it threw me in a fucking survival horror section of the worst

Wow, even Backloggd has a Spotify Wrapped equivalent now (Backers only I'm afraid). This is quite cool though, really enjoyed looking through it @backloggd.com

Some great stuff in here. If I have to highlight one to pick up from this list it hasgot to be The friends of Ringo Ishikawa. Low key Japanese hoodlum life sim, nothing else quite like it.

In case you haven't had the chance to play it yet, Hypogea is 25% off for the Steam winter sale! I (an impartial observer) hear it's pretty good!

There's a steam sale going on. If only there was a way to see some underappreciated gems that were on discount right now hmmm.

As much as deliberate retro throwbacks and budget savings account for a big part of its appeal, I'm starting to see an interesting development in PS1 looking LowPoly environments (in games that are set in contemporary times) as a sort of videogame equivalent to impressionism.

Yeah, getting a job in the second half of this year has put a dent in 2025's numbers. The grind never ends though, and I'm temporarily out of work so its time to make up for it.

Mods are interesting because ultimately a game is sort of a conversation with the designer(s) and modding is like a conversation with a modder in response to that conversation. A review/critique is this too, but modding/hacking is almost the ultimate form of interpretation you can have for a game

Give Mewtwo Psychic Surge. Pressure sucks and my boy has been powercrept to oblivion. Let it become the god of PsySpam in Restricted Legendary formats, there's no excuse with Miraidon and Xerneas running around

On the one hand, the Game Awards are incredibly embarassing and not worth caring about, and E33 looks like a mid RPG I have 0 interest in playing. But on the other hand they may have bruised Fraudjima'a ego slightly so I kinda have to give em a point for that.

Was talking to my Doctor Uncle about stuff and at one point the subject of cough syrup came up, specifically of people taking it recreationally. He said the reason for it is cause it has codeine, which is an opiate. And I wondered, why is that? Like I get opiates for pain relief and whatnot but

One funny thing about Harvest Valley is that there's all these holes in the ground with poison mist in em (the entire area is like a toxic mine) that lead to treasure or enemies or whatever, and then theres just this one hole tucked away which just kills you if you jump in lmfao. Great prank

As an FPS game? Not the best.

As a piece of interactive art and a window into a vast alien world? Sublime.

That makes the second time I've been sent a game on steam to review for my curator page. I feel a bit weird about it cause I have 28 whole followers lmao, doesnt seem like a fair trade to me, 1 fewer units sold for a review thats likely not gonna be seen by more than a handful of users. Then again,

It's been really awesome and slightly overwhelming seeing so many people play and enjoy my little video game, I can't express how grateful I am to see something I made be recieved so well.

For the occasion, the full Hypogea OST is now up on youtube!

I know it wont happen because Infantino has his head buried up Trump's ass but legitimately they should take the World Cup away from the US. Youre gonna have all these players either harassed by ICE, interrogated on their fucking social media posts or god knows what else

US could ask tourists for five-year social media history before entry
The plan would affect people from countries, including the UK, which can fill out a form in lieu of a visa.

Its funny watching behind the scenes interviews/panels for red dead redemption cause the actor for Arthur Morgan is Irish and does a pretty great gruff american voice when in character and then the one for John Marston is just his regular voice because honestly thats all he needs, its perfect
