This study is a collaboration between #indurot from #UniversityofOviedo and #EPSE from #UniversityofSantiagodeCompostela 🤝📚 Together, we aim to map the contamination footprint of past mining activities.

🌍🔬 Fieldwork in action! A demanding day collecting soil, roots, and vegetation samples 🧪🌱, alongside multispectral #UAV flights 🚁, to investigate contamination at the historic arsenic mine in Azúmara, Castro de Rei. 🪨

Today was vegetation digestion day in the lab! 🌿⚗️ My colleague @rubenfc82.bsky.social and I 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬 are analyzing plant tissues from our experiment to determine which heavy metals 🧪⚡ they have accumulated. The study is based on soil from a former arsenic mine 🏔️🌱🌍 #soilscience #naturebasedsolutions
