I reminded my husband and children, who have always insisted I was being overdramatic and pessimistic, that everything I predicted would happen after Trump's election has happened. They still tell me to calm down when I try to tell them things.

That music hall scene lives deep in my psyche now. I'm so glad I saw the movie in a theater instead of streaming it. I've seen some of the other award contenders, and they're great, but they didn't leave me in awe the way Sinners did.

Republicans spent the entire election screaming about how the Democrats were saying and doing all these things (especially regarding LGBTQ issues) that they were not doing, and stupid voters believed them. The loudest message penetrates.
