Our paper is now out: Trust in Close Relationships Revisited. All the buzzwords: bifactor modelling, invariance testing, construct, and a few others. Joking aside, @omarjcamanto.bsky.social is a very skilled and careful data wrangler/analyst while also able to relate theory and data. 👇

Here's the preprint again. Come for the theory, stay for the execution. (And the open data, code, and materials.)

We already know that lagged effects in CLPMs are likely to be upwardly biased, but just how easy is it to find significant effects? Way too easy. I tested CLPMS in 100 randomly selected pairs of correlated variables and found significant effects in 98 of them. New preprint: osf.io/preprints/ps...

I can imagine the message sent to the successful candidate when the proposed salary comes in at $83,300 ;)

If I was an item in a refrigerator, and it had a "best before" date, I have likely surpassed that date and perhaps have some mold here and there. Sure I can scrape it off, but reality, like the inside of that fridge, is cold.

New ad for an open rank position in Psychology at Cornell. That Human Bonding course seems very popular! May be a good fit for a relationship scientist out there. Below is a snippet of the job ad.

Check out the ToC. The symposium did not run every year, or every other year, but there were 12 of them. Me and Jennifer LaGuardia organized the 12th one (The Science of the Couple) held at Western in 2009. Big conferences are fun but I like the focus on ideas in these smaller ones.

Does anyone remember "The Ontario Symposium" series? The 1st one was hosted at my Uni (U of Western Ontario) in 1978 (book pub'd in 1981). Originally put together by Tory Higgins (Western at the time), Mark Zanna (Waterloo), and Peter Herman (U Toronto). Jim Olson took over from Higgins at Western.

Nothing to do with the main point of this thread, but I took an undergrad Philosophy course from Paul Thagard at the University of Waterloo in the mid 1990s (still have course readings); and fortunate to also have taken a course from his now late wife Ziva Kunda. Small world as we say.

I mentioned to a couple of people that I had a surprise waiting to be shared when Moderna got approval for its updated COVID-19 vaccine. It’s approved, and the big news??? Completely produced domestically!!!!! 🥳🤩

Approved as usual for all aged 6mo+!
Moderna just received Health Canada authorization for its updated LP.8.1 variant COVID-19 vaccine.

The exciting part? It will be manufactured domestically!
Their authorization allows parts of the vaccine to be produced at Moderna’s new facility in Quebec, while the fill-finish will be handled by Novocol Pharma in Ontario. The domestically produced vaccine will be ready for this year’s fall vaccination campaign.
