Middle school, plants, and cats these days. #vermont
I wiped out in the parking lot coming down from Bolton today, 2 sets of skis and poles flying everywhere. "I'm fine, I'm fine, STOP LOOKING AT ME, I'm fine" I said to everyone...

(but now I'm home with an ice pack on my bruised bum)

One of my students has been walking around her "pet bee." It's literally a B scrabble letter on a string.

We went to City Market yesterday to make trail mixes for Spectrum, and she brought her pet.

Me: hey, no pets allowed in grocery stores.
Student (without missing a beat): it's a service bee.

I hope you'll take a moment for these beautiful parting words from the incomparable Jane Goodall.

(And she threw in a little salt for the evil ones, too)

Yesterday, we went to Middlebury College to play with their entomology students, who had prepared some fun activities and visuals to connect insects from movies and books (Naussica, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Pokemon, Avatar) to real life!

How are headlights like these legal? They are like 100x brighter than the car behind.

I'm in a small hatchback and these are blaring straight into my windshield. Another way that SUVs put everyone around them in danger.

I highly recommend finding a Tuba Christmas this holiday season. I happened upon one on Church Street a few years ago and it brought me to tears.

If you play tuba or euphonium, join!

What kind of shoes should you pack for your visit to VT?

Warm waterproof boots Sept-May. Sandals in the summer.

Slippers to change into when you get inside.

Crocs for taking out the compost.

I introduced myself to the newest neighbor on the block. He said he knew me through ultimate, although he was one year older than the first kids I coached. I blurted, "you bought this house yourself?"

I mean, good for you, kid!
A trick-or-treater just asked what we paid for our house

Crowdsourcing question....where do folks get accurate weather data these days?

I used to love Wunderground but I've had too many bike commutes in the rain to trust it completely anymore.

Adelita Grijalva won her election fair and square.

Now House Speaker Mike Johnson is refusing to swear her in because she would be the final signature to release the Epstein files.

Mr. Speaker, respect democracy. Obey the law. Swear Representative Grijalva in immediately.

I've saved voicemails from some of my favorite people, some dating back to 2009. Two were from my grandmother, who has since passed. I'm not sure how sad I should feel about it, or how hard I should work to get them back.
