It’s frustrating as hell, but in my opinion we haven’t earned the right to be exhausted yet. Look at Ukraine, Venezuela or Iran - where people have literally fought tyrants for years.

Our shift has only just started.

Believe it or not, democracy is all of us, and government IS here to help. I will never forgive Reagan for turning that idea into a vicious joke. I've said that to a roomful of small-L libertarians more than once. I'm a closet people-pleaser, so if I can take the heat, so can you. Say it out loud.

I know a lot of state civil service workers. They routinely get calls from irate citizens who feel entitled to scream abuse at them because "my taxes pay your salary." Every little person gets to think they're big for a minute by screaming at the government. That's why I block guillotine memers.

I think the "throw the bums out" mentality is a disease on both sides of the aisle. It reinforces the entertainment circus view of politics, which the media feeds on, and it drives away good people who might run for office but don't have a thick skin for all the disrespect they'll inevitably get.

At the same time term limits do nothing to disempower entrenched interests, diversify legislatures, increase turnout, generate competitive elections, reduce gov’t budgets, reduce corruption, or do any of the other things proponents say they will.
