My view is that he should apologise, and that he should primarily be judged on his words, policies and standards in 2025, not 1981. He is not doing as well as he might hope on the 2025 test in the eyes of most ethnic minority people, nor a plurality of the majority group

If Putin really wanted to end the war, he could do it tomorrow, just take his troops home and stop bombing Ukrainian civilians.
