This is right, I think - hard to imagine any new No10/No11 team making a bunch of Truss-style unfunded spending commitments; not hard to imagine them sticking up income tax for example. Bond markets likely to create volatile backdrop to any contest tho.
it's only the right wingers that think the fiscal taps would suddenly be opened to floodgate levels. the memory of the Truss debacle is too recent for any PM/Chancellor combo to take that risk again. agree rather more likely is a kitchen sinking exercise on tax as should already have happened.
