Usually you find entomopathogenic fungi like these on the undersides of leaves, but sometimes they crawl onto the bottom of a mushroom cap to die

The gill shots on this Deconica are just too nice - also, they fluoresce pink/red under 365nm UV light! I wish the lightning was a bit more condusive to getting a good UV shot of the gills here.

It definitely has been. I'm almost finished - hopefully I can find a satisfying frame.

My oldest cat passed away last month - he was 17.

I've been working on a memorial piece for him - it hurts so much that he is gone but doing this is, in a way, helping me grieve

'tis the season for Macrolepiota (or at least it would be if we weren't in drought.) These guys are a choice edible, and pretty easy to ID. Look for a moveable, double-sided ring, 'snakeskin' patterning on the stipe, and white to pale pinkish spores.

Macrolepiota Macilenta

HM.

What do we HAVE HERE. M. griseoviride is supposed to have a Melzer's reaction at the tip of the asci and the specimans from OH that we did micro on are NOT reacting to Melzer's regent

Gonna need to dig down this rabbit hole a little more
