Juuri noin. Viime vuosina suurin osa Suomen uusista asunnoista on rakennettu kerrostaloihin, mutta eivät kerrostalot tästä meidän aineistosta erottuneet, vaan tilasyöpöt pientaloalueet.

Toisaalta puhumme nimenomaan siitä, miten paljon maata rakentaminen syö. Peltojen metsittäminen ei vaikuta tähän (luonnon kokonaisalaan kylläkin).

Laadullisesta analyysista: Suomen tasolla tarkastelimme rakentamista arvokkaisiin luontokohteisiin.

Mutta kyllä, paljon silti vielä selvittämättä!

Hyvä kysymys! Ei arvioitu. Tekoälymalli pystyi melko luotettavasti erottamaan kuvista luontoalueiden ja peltojen muutoksen rakennetuiksi, koska ero näiden välillä on niin selkeä. Luontotyyppien erottaminen toisistaan hankalampaa, samoin muutokset esim. pellosta metsäksi, koska kasvu on niin hidasta.

In the tourism hubs of Rovaniemi, Ylläs, Levi, and Inari, construction consumed a total of 2.7 million square meters of nature. Around half of this area was clearly developed for tourists.

We found that between 2018 and 2023, an average of four natural areas were lost to construction each week in Finnish Lapland. Tourism-related developments - hotels, cottages, glass igloos, etc. - accounted for 15% of that loss.
