For centuries, a “gossip” was a woman who attended another woman's delivery. The word was a corruption of “god-sib” or “god-sibling,” meaning “sister in the Lord.” The gossips offered support to mother & midwife. Only later did it become derogatory.

Same with Britain. This is the bit that hits hard for me. They wouldn’t even notice.
I say his gently, but…

There’s something unspeakably shameful The United States letting people go hungry.

Not because its government doesn’t fix it —

but because tomorrow a few private Americans could, and never notice the cost.

That’s the part that sits wrong.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but Black Friday sales in countries that don’t celebrate thanksgiving? It’s just late stage capitalism. It’s boring, I’m done with it.
It’s not multiculturalism, it’s monoculturism and it’s dull.

London was great as always! Got some Christmas shopping done, and saw the sinister minister @revpeterlaws.bsky.social talk about ghosts and why we’re all obsessed with them. Got another book for the endless TBR list, of course.

I always forget how whack London time is. What do you mean the stores don’t open until 11:30. Yes I’m aware it’s Sunday, that’s why I’m here!

“Libraries 📚 literally aren't just a place to obtain books for free.
They're one of the few public spaces left in our society where you're allowed to exist without the expectation of spending money.”

Forgot my Kindle. I’ll have to read my backup book on my lunch break, which is sort of exciting. I’ve been meaning to start it for ages.

I was an English teacher a few years back, and this was a form reader for year 9 students.
Side note: if anyone bans a book, read it and see what all the fuss was about.
