I've been seeing my favorite fuzzy friends around! 🍂🐛
Illustration of a wooly (sometimes spelled woolly) bear caterpillar. It's fuzzy and cute and has a happy little smile. There's lines radiating around it and above it says "it's wooly time!" in lowercase hand lettering. The background is a light orange checkered pattern.

From James Sowerby's Coloured Figures of English Fungi or Mushrooms, published in three volumes between 1797 and 1809.
Illustration is a detailed scientific illustration of a type of cup fungus, specifically identified by the text as Peziza coccinea (now known as Sarcoscypha coccinea or the scarlet elfcup) and Peziza epidendra. The illustration shows several specimens of the fungus at different stages of growth and from various angles. The fungi are depicted with vibrant red interiors and white exteriors, growing on a piece of dead wood.

Autumn. Decal paper print on synthetic medium. #printmaking
A black and white image of autumn leaves floating on the surface of a pond. Branches of surrounding trees are reflected in the water. Large cracks in the print itself create the effect of additional branches. The irregular edges of the print itself resemble a polaroid emulsion transfer.

lil sticker design for ECN this year, trying to retain design consistency with last year's stickers but also needed to add little gumboots and a tiny oatmilk latte
sticker design for a bug professionals conference, featuring an iconic beetle of the PNW (a rain beetle, Pleocomidae) in front of a generically Portland-like backdrop. I know that's not a perfect Mt Hood but at least I didn't just draw Mt Rainier like I always do photo of last year's sticker, an Eleodes in front of a generically Sonoran desert landscape (for the same conference but in Phoenix)

A textbook image I did a few years ago showing a trap-jaw ant (Odontomachus rixosus) with her mandibles held open and trigger hairs forward, and then in the closed position.

The snapping shut of the trap is one of the fastest measured animal movements.
A split-screen image showing (top) a face view of an elongated ant standing on a reflective surfave, facing us with toothy brown jaws held 180 degrees open, and (bottom), the same ant with jaws closed, the bluntly toothed tips held together.

Tonight I am troubled by this Caloplaca sp. #lichen. K+ cortex. Short ellipsoid spores with wide septum (9,6-11 x 5,5-6,8 µm). In northern hessia on silicous rock with Trapelia sp. (I think) and others I don't know. Keying out I arrive at costal sp. which this is definitely not fitting.
Mosaic of different lichens. Detail of yellow lichen crust with yellow apothecia.
