A lot of comments reflexively state Venezuela was all about the oil. Maybe that’s the correct answer, but if it is the answer, it appears to be a blunder. The better insight might be that it’s old men pushing a stale agenda, and not having the imagination to grasp changes in energy markets.

It really does need to stop. The US already gets what it needs from Greenland through trade deals and alliances, so using force or abducting leaders is a more costly course of action in blood, treasure and moral standing. It’s madness for it to continue.
