Senior artist at Norsfell.

I do Concept Art, Tech Art, Unreal, Blender.

I mostly do stylized stuff, helping the team where needed. Hmu if you want to talk shop!
I fucked up bad. Might need some IT help if anyone's smart enough to fix this

Wanted to clear the partitions on "Old C", but accidentally,l extended the volume into the EFI partition of my new drive with windows. Pretty sure I won't be able to reboot as a result.

Are there simple fixes for this?

The Lycan set! Honestly one of my favorite pet designs from the game. Doing a cute animal in an otherwise epic fantasy is always a great change of pace.

The original concept for the Hvergelmir spring in Tribes of Midgard.

This time with video. Fingers crossed!

In this case, I use the included node graph to tile this whole thing again over W so that the result loops in time. Pass that through another function that projects the caustics and BOOM, tiling looping caustics.

Caustics projection function can be found here:

The end result, with *almost* no seam. Not perfect for a tiling texture, but perfecty serviceable as an input for other effect you want to build, and which need to tile.

With this technique, I was able to build a looping realistic caustics animation that I may be able to share later.

The next stage is to find a way to minimise the amount of seam we can get when we blend the two together. We do this with a series of mathematically derived masks lerp the two results over each other sequentially.

I suppose we could totally hide the seam with more steps but I'm happy enough as is.

Essentially what I'm doing is offsetting the procedural noise by 1 on U and V, and then lerping the differnt outputs.

This creates 2 images - one tiles in U just fine, the other in V...

I put up my first #b3d resource up on Ko-Fi. It is a simple node group set-up to tile Blender's procedural Noise Texture and Voronnoi Texture across UV space.

In the blend file I've included Geometry Nodes and Shader Nodes groups that you can add to your own Asset library

When Surtr emerges to wage war on Midgard, his domain comes with him.

Niflheim itself erupts out of the ground in patches around you, creating encampents of Surtr's minions. Somewhere in the sea, a massive volcanic island emerges, where you will find Surtr standing over his battle map.

Here is where I break down the shader/texturing effects for Surtr's sword, and also break down the details of his chest piece.

It's unglamorous, but this is what a lot of concept art actually looks like. Breakdowns that help enable the 3d artists to understand the intention.

Let's try that again from PC. See if it works this time.

This was an emote move for the Snowdancer character in the Moon Hunters: Eternal Echoes expansion. If anyone's interested in seeing more, I might pull some more out of the archives from that project.

Now let's see what Bluesky's algorithm will do to that looping gif!

Surtr's sword.

I'd mocked up the shader when I was working on the concept art, so when the final model came back I knew I needed to cook up an animated clip for it!

We wound up using the clip to promote the soundtrack for season 3. That was delightful.

Video and concept posts incoming.

Don't mind me, I'm just testing GIF support.

Here's a chunky post. Character design for Surtr. Fire jotunn, king of Niflheim. Stands waist deep in lava as he battles players on a burning platform.

Anyone with time on their hands can try to puzzle out the meaning of the runes on his chest-plate. 🤔

Gear for the Cyber Viking set. Fun shapes, playing with symmetry.

Another gear set from Tribes of Midgard.

This is for the Serpent set, which featured heavily in promo for Season 2. We see Eira (the game's mascot and guide for players to learn about the world) wearing the set for season 2's key art.

Whatcha got there? Food? Is it for me?

Let's shake things up with an environment set-piece from Tribes.

The gate from Niflheim to Hel's domain. Modeled in Blender, composited and painted over in Photoshop.

The pet for the viking set! Plus initial explorations for the costume.

Designing this drone was great. One of the fun things about sci-fi designs, especially something that doesn't need a lot of range of motion, is how early you get to focus on abstract shapes and just balancing things out.

I definitely went overkill on this concept. Cyber Viking set for Tribes.

The arm in particular was a poor fit for our poly budget, but our 3d lead did a great job tweaking the design into something that worked. Wound up being a pretty popular set!

More Castle Story key art. I think this ine got printed on shirts, too!

More Kyoto.

Obligatory misspellings and mistranslations, and legitimately some of the best pizza I've ever had.
