We were looking for a good quote to set up the satire here, but nothing clicked. Then Douthat’s op-ed dropped late morning, and well, thank you New York Times yet again.

Hey, Jeff Landry, I know you don't actually speak French, mais va à la merde. The lack of regulation on what the free market could do on our coast in the first half of the 20th century is the reason we've lost so much of our coastline in the first place.

There are two ways to say okra in French and Creole in Louisiana: "févi" and "gombo"
Some people may only say one, but many use both terms. How do you say "okra" in your language?

"le taureau du côteau" = "the bull of the hill"
"Toro" means "bull" in Spanish. I thought it was a pretty good pun anyway. 🤷‍♂️ lol
Other vocabulary: "faucheuse" = "lawnmower" and "môle" ("mowl") is just how you might hear some old folks in South Louisiana say "mower" or "to mow" in our accent.

I was thinking I was pretty clever when I thought of the word "TikTokalypse," but then I googled it and got like a million results. I was really hoping I had coined a new word. 😔😂
