I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

I didn’t read theory or whatever but I’m sure it’s some feature of (neo?)capitalism itself to draw people into thinking that the mere act of *making money to live* is “being a capitalist” which drives people to fight amongst themselves instead of together against the actual capitalists.

About 70 moms and dads gathered Tuesday at Alpha School in the Marina District to hear a sales pitch for why they should drop $75,000 a year per kid on an education that sounds like the plot line of a “Black Mirror” episode.

Alpha School’s promise is bold and not backed by evidence: Just two hours of academic work per day, with the rest of the day spent developing “life skills,” from building a sailboat to managing an AirBnB to traveling internationally. The school’s founders, podcaster MacKenzie Price and her tech executive husband, Andrew, make incredible claims, such as that Alpha students learn 10 times faster than those in traditional education — with the use of AI only.

One mother asked the K-8 school’s principal, the Trilogy Software founder, investor, and multibillionaire Joe Liemandt, how children can learn virtues and values from a computer.

Anecdotal but as someone who spends a lot of time driving within a 3.5 hour radius of Pittsburgh there has been a marked decrease in Trump Yards over the past month or so. The really wacky ones are still going though. You know the ones.

I don’t think these free speech crackdowns would be as successful as they are w/out the initial trial runs of cracking down on all the pro-Palestinian activism throughout the country, which received enthusiastic approval from BOTH sides. All roads to fascism are paved with liberal cooperation.
