This is so fucking funny in a deeply ironic way

None of them fucking understand the situation

They really need an HR team to sit them all down and explain to them how important it is to put a strong barrier between work and personal stuff

Also fuck this transphobe

I do find it hilarious how they immediately backtracked after this and deleted the comment
a member of bluesky saying "Yeh" in response to the above post, with a journalist responding asking to get their exact quote over the thread in which the bluesky member responds with "what" and the journalist then rephrasing the question only for the bluesky member to delete the entire thread

tl;dr: Bluesky began with genuine promise: a new social media platform where users could feel safer, but inconsistent moderation quickly eroded trust.

When systemically marginalized users pushed back, Bluesky’s leadership minimized concerns and began to target them for bans.

I would assume so. But also, like, any email provider made in the last 10 years will let you make up aliases on the fly like [email protected] => [email protected], so email shouldn’t be a concern at all.

IIRC it will reserve the handle on the server but otherwise you can just do it yeah

Skate & Dates title/logo! The main character Maggie is looking at her rival Patricia with heart eyes with the title of the game in the center of the image.

i guess they would need to dispatch a “detach quote” record or something
damien.zone
Now should Bluesky probably be more upfront about it? Yes. But also in aggregate people do not read anything so for all I know it’s probably already written plainly somewhere
damien.zone
Yeah idk I deleted my twitter accounts when the owner started doing nazi salutes at a presidential inauguration lol
damien.zone
Yeah it’s classification and that’s it + they have a specific contract that prevents the provider from training on the content that is being classified.

Ppl should worry about whomever scraping the firehose and training on that (something Bsky cannot prevent) lol
damien.zone
i got used to it but it really did feel like a flexbox bug at first lol

*smokes on a blunt* Mastodon and Bluesky are both social media Linuxes but at two ends of the "homelab to enterprise" spectrum

i disabled reposts, i wish i could do it per-user but it does make the site much less addictive
damien.zone
sometimes i wonder if atproto is too convoluted for its own good or if it's just that the team is just not great at communicating about it lolsob
damien.zone
if the product is the protocol, like the team says, i feel like "do people get what the product can do and cannot do" should be priority. the past few days have proven that the limitations/current state of the protocol weren't understood/communicated clearly??
damien.zone
it says something that an external contributor does a better job communicating about the ins and outs of atproto than the bluesky team themselves 🙃

This whole thread is fantastic leadership and communication. It’s sad that the Bluesky folks are so bad at those things.

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

People need to be able to say rude things about a guy who regularly talked about Black people like we aren't human, and the fact that Bsky seems more protective of a dead white man's memory than of living Black people's connection to community is a profoud, grotesque statement

I also think there needs to be some semblance of being willing to admit the organization has done something wrong. A good start would be to restore Link and to invite him, Aveta, Rudy and others to have a conversation about racial bias in moderation in this time of rising white supremacy.
