It’s a new year which means it’s time for new ideas and new hopes and new dreams! And like many of you I’m dreaming of freedom for all humankind, the freedom that can only be achieved by letting go of land based hotels and putting them in space, which will happen in only 11 months!

It's kind of wild you walked away from this take with the idea that I think that's its great people have to take care of each other to survive as opposed to having the government do so instead of you know, acknowledging that some people do in fact need mutual aid.

I'm saying in the absence of actual services people need to take care of each other and if you're posting from Germany I think it would behoove you to listen to natives of LA who are seeing their services get destroyed and slashed and community relations are the only way to get fed, housed, etc.

I get that but I don't think that the campaign that started this conversation is arguing that mutual aid should replace the welfare state so I don't really understand positioning one as against the other in the original thread.

Mutual aid shouldn't replace a welfare state, but mutual aid is there in place of it when all else fails. I was at EARNcon in New Orleans recently for my work and one of the big messages that was being broadcast was NOLA's ability to take care of each other in the absence of services.

I get down on myself sometimes but I've really done well for myself all things considered for a person who's brain is so littered with intrusive thoughts that I can't get through 5 minutes without thinking of something traumatic
