Made a holiday roast and extra stuffing and some gravy and then opened a can of cranberry while @lhvt.bsky.social made the best spinach. It’s a holiday if we say it is

I forgot I put on sparkly eyeshadow and now I’ve got sparkle all over me.

What if I replace the little membrane switch on my shop LED ring light desk lamp task lighting thing with a box with proper buttons in a little box. What about arcade buttons in a big box

Fell in love with some hand warmers, but of course they're from Germany so . . .

Picked up an adorable 4” drawknife and just sharpened it today and made a quick cover because I will cut myself on an uncovered drawknife no matter where it is stored.

I also nickel plated this little piece of steel for my mitre box

Turns out home nickel plating is incredibly easy and not scary

“MISANDRY” was a close second

Having knuckle tattoos makes taking pointless pictures of your hand more fun. Everything is slightly threatening when your knuckles say “RIOT” on one hand.

I have X-men eyeliner makeup for some reason

The oil isn’t cured but enough to handle, and this is what it looks like together with some linseed.

Whaddya call those little brass frames you slide cards into? I wanna have nice little labels for what’s inside each drawer

Fit the drawers a bit better and added the first coat of linseed oil. I might shellac the mahogany, I dunno. Maybe just finishing wax.

I need to scrape and re-oil some of the drawer fronts where they’re a bit blotchy but yeah, I’m liking this

Still need to trim the moulding and finish, and I may reglue one piece, but yeah, it’s all a thing now. Finish tomorrow most likely.

Dry fitting the molding.

Hide glue is fun and advantageous when you’re doing a rub joint with tiny parts and tacking it in with brads. It’s less fun when you’re scrambling to pound together some tight hardwood dovetails. That said, runners are on and case is glued. A bit of cleanup and molding will go on, and then finish!

Okay but they did get everyone dinner and I was surprised to find out there was a veggie option !

Knife some pegs and use the drawer grooves to hold them and plane to fit. Now I have runners to tack into the case.

Offcuts to the rescue

Cut list for the runners. This project would be easier if I let myself use plywood.

I’m just so damn happy with where this is going. I’m pretty proud and can’t wait for it to be finished.

I’m a schlub today and my oil rags still aren’t dried enough to throw away.
