American expat living in Japan for 30+ years. My family had to flee Spain when the fascists took over, looks like I got a head start on things this time.
So, will the Vatican man up and elect a new Pope who is best suited to fight this new age of fascism? If not, then that sends a pretty clear signal about what they consider to be important.

Why haven't the courts issued a moratorium on ALL deportations to any country imprisoning American deportees unless they first go through a court?

Dear World:

Could you pick up the American business that MAGA is disrupting? You know, Ukraine, fighting disease, etc? We’re in some internal trouble here, your help would be greatly appreciated. We’ll be back after we’ve cleaned this up, but it might be a while.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Americans

Money is not the root of all evil. Dominance is. Dominance is the root of authoritarianism, of greed, of racial superiority, of misogyny, of religious nationalism, of homophobia. Anything you can define as evil can be traced back to dominance.

See events in that light, and it all becomes clear.

It's blatantly obvious that Trump told Bukele to refuse to return Garcia, and if Trump simply asked for Garcia's return, Bukele would do it. Nobody's fooling anybody.

Making people fear "it could be me, and no one will be able to protect me" is the entire point.

FB is quietly removing Richardson's posts.

The republican cries of "censorship" in the pandemic were of posts with deadly misinformation. Richardson's posts are factual and informative.

This belies right-wing "free speech" as being for propaganda, and censoring facts.

People suffer from the illusion that governments work for the people. They don't. They should, but they don't. Privatization is not about making things more efficient or better, it's about creating free profits for wealthy people at the expense of the poor.

They should do a survey ofAmericans who didn't vote in 2024, ask them (a) why they didn't, (b) do they believe Harris would have been no different, (c) if they could go back, would they have voted and for whom, (d) will they vote the next time, and (e) for republicans?

Would be interesting.

Funny how rich people always told us that "bread and circuses" (taking care of those in need) would be the downfall of the nation, and yet over many decades, that never happened... but here we are seeing the nation being destroyed in just weeks by billionaires and their egos, dominance, and greed.

If the 90 million American voters who didn’t vote in 2024 would be kind enough to admit that not voting wasn’t such a great idea, then I think we may have a way out of this.

"Disinfirmation" may be the best and most meaningful misspelling I have seen for quite some time. Disinformation which causes infirmity. So much so that I have to wonder if it was accidental or purposeful.

Money is not the root of all evil, that's a distraction. Nor is even the lust for money.

Dominance is the root of all evil.

Money is just a unit for a subset of that.

Evil is when people attempt to dominate others, humiliate them, control them, and make them miserable so you feel superior.

Before getting pissed at Democrats for "not doing anything," try calling your representatives and asking first.

There are 262 elected Democrats in Congress, and the media is spending 90% of its capacity covering the Trump s***show.

Dems are probably doing a lot, but you just never hear about it.
