Statement by Rhun ap Iorwerth and Liz Saville Roberts to mark two years since the 7 October 2023 attacks.

@rhunapiorwerth.bsky.social
@lsrplaid.bsky.social
Today, we remember with horror the Hamas attack on innocent Israelis on 7 October 2023.

We think of the hostages and all those whose lives were coldly ripped apart on that day. Our thoughts are also with the Jewish community in Wales, for whom this anniversary will be even more harrowing following the horrific attack on Heaton Park synagogue.

Two years on, the bloodshed continues. Over 69,000 people have been killed. Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, according to the UN commission of inquiry. Children’s futures have been stolen, families destroyed, and entire communities razed to the ground. The scale of suffering is almost unimaginable, and yet the world has allowed it to continue. This cannot go on.

A ceasefire is urgently needed. There is now a glimmer of hope as negotiations begin, but it will count for nothing until the violence stops. Gaza needs food, aid, and humanitarian access at scale – and only a ceasefire can make that possible.

The international community must do more. Governments must act decisively to end the genocide, secure the immediate release of hostages, protect civilians, and uphold international law. Every day of inaction allows more suffering – there can be no more delay.

Datganiad gan Rhun ap Iorwerth a Liz Saville Roberts i nodi dwy flynedd ers ymosodiadau 7 Hydref 2023.

@rhunapiorwerth.bsky.social
@lsrplaid.bsky.social
Heddiw, rydym yn cofio gydag arswyd ymosodiad Hamas ar Israeliaid diniwed ar 7 Hydref 2023.

Rydym yn meddwl am y gwystlon a'r holl fywydau a rwygwyd yn ddarnau y diwrnod hwnnw. Mae ein meddyliau hefyd gyda'r gymuned Iddewig yng Nghymru - bydd heddiw yn fwy brawychus byth yn dilyn yr ymosodiad erchyll ar synagog Heaton Park.

Ddwy flynedd yn ddiweddarach, mae'r lladd yn parhau, gyda dros 69,000 o bobl wedi marw. Mae Israel wedi cyflawni hil-laddiad yn Gaza, yn ôl comisiwn ymchwilio'r Cenhedloedd Unedig. Mae dyfodol plant wedi cael ei ddwyn, teuluoedd wedi'u dinistrio, a chymunedau cyfan wedi'u chwalu i'r llawr. Mae graddfa'r dioddefaint yn annealladwy bron, ac eto mae'r byd wedi caniatáu iddo ddigwydd. Ni all hyn barhau.

Mae angen cadoediad ar frys. Mae yna lygad o obaith wrth i drafodaethau ddechrau, ond ni fydd yn cyfrif am ddim nes bod y trais yn dod i ben. Mae angen bwyd, cymorth, a mynediad dyngarol ar raddfa fawr ar Gaza - a dim ond cadoediad all wneud hynny'n bosibl.

Rhaid i’r gymuned ryngwladol wneud mwy. Rhaid i lywodraethau weithredu’n bendant i ddod â’r hil-laddiad i ben, sicrhau rhyddhau gwystlon ar unwaith, amddiffyn sifiliaid, a chynnal cyfraith ryngwladol. Mae pob diwrnod o beidio gweithredu yn caniatáu mwy o ddioddefaint – ni all fod mwy o oedi.

"I've known him for years, he's Mr Caerphilly. He'll work so hard".

The by-election is a straight fight between Plaid Cymru and Reform UK - between hope and division.

Vote for Mr Caerphilly - Lindsay Whittle - on 23 October 💚
Meeting 'Mr Caerphilly' - the candidate hoping to give Labour a bloody nose

Ahead of the Caerphilly by-election, I urge those who share our values to lend your votes to Plaid Cymru.

If progressives stay divided, Reform UK will win.

Stop Farage’s division from taking root and help build a fairer, hopeful Wales.

The Secretary of State for Wales certainly knows how to avoid a question 👏🏼

Watch @lsrplaid.bsky.social stand up to Jo Stevens and Rachel Reeves who claims that cutting bankers’ red tape will help working people despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.

War, persecution, and climate change mean more displacement – and yet the UK Government has cut international aid by £6 billion.

Without global cooperation to tackle the root causes, we’re only setting ourselves up for more crises – and more pressure on the asylum system.
lsrplaid.bsky.social
A U-turn driven by polls, not principle.

It’s a decision that we welcome in Plaid Cymru. Targeting the vulnerable is never right and Labour must now reverse their cruel cuts to disability benefits too.

Rhagor o newyddion erchyll o Gaza dros nos.

Rhaid i gadoediad nawr fod yn flaenoriaeth, a rhaid i'r gymuned ryngwladol weithredu ar frys i sicrhau bod sifiliaid yn cael eu hamddiffyn a bod cymorth dyngarol yn eu cyrraedd yn ddiogel.

More horrific news from Gaza overnight, where civilians were cruelly killed near an aid distribution centre.

Reaching a ceasefire deal must be a priority, and the international community must act with urgency to ensure the protection of civilians and the safe delivery of humanitarian aid.

Heartbreaking news coming from Liverpool tonight.

This should have been a day of celebration and enjoyment with many from Ynys Môn and North Wales having travelled there.

Heartfelt sympathy to all affected.

The 2026 Senedd election will be a battle between Plaid Cymru and Reform UK.

Farage would rip power away from Wales, privatise the NHS, and strip away workers rights.

If you believe in Wales, choose the party of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Bydd etholiad Senedd 2026 yn frwydr rhwng Plaid Cymru a Reform UK.

Byddai Farage yn tynnu pŵer oddi ar Gymru, yn preifateiddio'r NHS, ac yn tynnu hawliau gweithwyr i ffwrdd.

Os ydych chi'n credu yng Nghymru, dewiswch Blaid Cymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Today’s EU ‘reset’ is an opportunity for Keir Starmer to show bold leadership – by facing economic reality.

Rejoining the single market and customs union is in our economic interests.

Stronger ties with our European neighbours are essential for a stronger Welsh economy 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Mae heddiw yn gyfle i Keir Starmer ddangos arweinyddiaeth ar ein safle yn Ewrop – drwy wynebu realiti economaidd.

Mae ailymuno â'r farchnad sengl a'r undeb tollau er ein budd economaidd.

Mae cysylltiadau cryfach â'n cymdogion yn hanfodol ar gyfer cryfhau economi Cymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Truth hurts, doesn’t it?

Starmer’s principles seem to blow with the political wind. It should be no surprise that Labour’s support is crumbling in Wales.
lsrplaid.bsky.social
My question clearly struck a nerve.

The faces of many Labour MPs told their own story – plenty of them know I was right.

If Starmer’s convictions change with the political weather, it’s no surprise that support for Labour is falling through the floor.

Labour is snatching soundbites from Farage while the care system crumbles.

By clutching at anti-immigration headlines, they’re turning on care workers who support vulnerable and elderly people.

Care workers need decent pay and fair conditions, not scapegoats.

Trump says the UK-US trade deal “includes billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports, particularly in agriculture, dramatically increasing access for American beef”

It seems Keir Starmer has sold Welsh farmers down the river to appease Donald Trump.

A change of government under a Plaid Cymru First Minister will make a real difference to the people of Wales.

It's time for a government that stands up for Wales – from protecting Welsh steel to tackling poverty – not one that bends the knee to Westminster.

Bydd newid llywodraeth o dan Brif Weinidog Plaid Cymru yn gwneud gwahaniaeth gwirioneddol i bobl Cymru.

Mae'n bryd cael llywodraeth sy'n sefyll dros Gymru – o amddiffyn dur Cymru i fynd i'r afael â thlodi – nid un sy'n ildio i San Steffan.

Today's results show how Reform exploits the vacuum created by Labour's failure to offer any hope of positive change.

A year from now the people of Wales can choose a new government driven by bold, ambitious policies, not content in overseeing community decline or scapegoating.
