Also, I've never heard type 3 used outside of a joking context for a bad game.

Anyway, it's a more useful descriptor than "Nordic"

I think type 1 and type 2 are really useful distinctions, particularly in the convention larp world where you are trying to quickly judge the tone of a game and see if it is something you want to sign up for. I think it's a weird name, but my understanding is it comes from the hiking world?
