I really wouldn’t recommend keeping a male and female betta together. All the potential headache just isn’t worth it. Get some honey gouramis if you want to see two fish canoodle! Their little dances are so cute!

They are much better swimmers! Long finned bettas get tired quickly and will be more inclined to just chill whereas if given the room most plakats love patrolling their territory. My current boy Diogenes is chief inspector!

My to some controversial opinion in the fishkeeping world. Plakat bettas should not be kept in anything smaller than 15 gallon 20 gallons ideally. Fancy types 10 gallon as a bare minimum
