she needs to get some friends her own age… it is incredibly unrealistic for any adult to rely on their adult children for companionship like that

seriously, it’s so negative and immature. and like i understand disliking forced positivity too because yeah, it does suck in a lot of cases, especially when no one will accommodate to your mental illness/disability. but putting others down for their own ways of coping is ableist in its own right!

you can say “sometimes you have to do the hard thing to improve your mental wellbeing” and then 50 people come out of the woodwork to be like “actually no one can ever improve themselves, we are all stagnant as people, and youre ableist for thinking otherwise”

exactly! it’s really funny esp considering under capitalism most people are unable enjoy their hobbies to the fullest because they’re either pressured to market them as a side hustle or they don’t have any time to since the work week takes up almost half their waking hours or more.
