Welp, now I have that song in my head (not complaining).

I think this is my chonkiest review yet, clocking in at over 8.1K words with end notes (I HAD A LOT TO SAY, OKAY???).

SERENADE review definitely coming this weekend, but whether it'll be Saturday or Sunday is up in the air. (I could rush it out today, but better for everyone if I let it sit overnight, but then it's uncertain if I'll actually have the time to do the final formatting and posting tomorrow.)

Review proper done at 6K, but I still have to do end notes (which will probably bump it up to 7K, lolololol 🙃).

5.2K words and still not done. 🙈

I guess this is why I generally stick to short stories/novelettes on my blog—novels (assuming I'm really into them) end up taking too much effort and being too time-consuming! (That said, I don't regret committing to this one.)

Oh, Ramon, you dramatic, himbo, golden retriever of a man. ❤️

OH NO, ANNA, DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF. 😂😭😂

Though, as discovered, not ALL of Glenna Finley's books are abjectly terrible (I do suspect LOVE'S MAGIC SPELL is one of her worst), so maybe it would be an interesting exercise?

If you do, and happen to post more about it, please tag me!

Anyone who says "not your grandma's romance" has not one single solitary clue what their grandma was reading.

Equally cursed addendum to this: Would LOVE to see a metaphorical dick-measuring contest between Ahmed Ben Hassan and Christian Grey, especially if it devolves into who has the bigger Daddy/Mommy issues, respectively. #LetThemFight

Anyway, despite that, I successfully did some writing today! Really happy I managed to at least get the bulk of this review out of my head before the holidays, because—while picking it back up has been difficult—I think it would have been nigh impossible without that pre-existing framework. 🙃

Anyway, Hogue and her husband seem to have been pretty firmly on the leftist/progressive side of the political spectrum, which makes 1.) her early death (in her early-40s) all the more tragic, and 2.) the weird-ass narrative turns at the end of SERENADE all the more suspicious. 🧐
