If I was asked to pick one painting to write a book about, it would be Brueghel the Elder's 1562 'The Triumph of Death'.
Not only is it one of the most metal paintings ever created (as Black Sabbath knew), it says so much about the apocalyptic vibes of 16th century Europe.
