1/2 The “people’s broadcaster” is now overseen by private equity grandees, ex-CEOs of privatised utilities, investment bankers and assorted corporate heavyweights.

Hardly the broad public it claims to serve.

1/4 Making sure people have confidence in their borders and sovereignty is important. But if the Government thinks this week’s hard-line immigration shift will help halt the nosedive in its support, they’re wrong.

1/3 It's being trailed in the media that the chancellor won't, after all, break the manifesto pledge on income tax. If that holds, I welcome it. Breaking the pledge would drive yet another nail into the coffin of political trust.

In an interview about Palantir's creeping involvement in the British state and the NHS, I told @prospectmagazine.co.uk: “Its business is death and destruction. This is not an organisation you want running the democratic jewel of the postwar period.”

1/4 This is how leading housing and homelessness charity Shelter welcomed a major win for renters yesterday.

Last night, the Renters’ Rights Bill received Royal Assent and, thanks to this Labour government, it’s now law.

Why isn't my government in favour of public ownership of water?

Clean, affordable water belongs to all of us. But public ownership is being blocked by misleading figures.

Can you ask the Environment Secretary to act on real evidence for public ownership and put people, not profiteers, first?

What an absolute cluster.

Private companies in effect alleging the Thames Water bidding process is rigged. Who’d have guessed!

Ministers should just fess-up. This charade has never been about the public interest.

It was always about keeping water in private hands at any cost.

The hospitality sector is under threat. Ahead of the November Budget, I have joined other MPs to urge the Chancellor to act now to protect an industry that employs millions nationwide, provides vital spaces for connection, and creates a vibrant local life here in Norwich.

It’s time to take back what’s ours.

At the #BlueEarthSummit I joined Feargal Sharkey and @cleanilkley.bsky.social to call out the scam of privatised water, and show how public ownership can become a reality.

For years, the political centre has comforted itself with a story: that public mistrust is irrational.

But this mistrust is not irrational at all. It's rooted in the lived experience of a public that has seen too much.

Another day, another water price hike.

Yes, these are new increases.

By 2030 you’ll be paying an average of 35% more for your privately-owned & polluted water.

My postbag has been filled with letters from constituents asking me to sign the #StopRosebank pledge. It's something I'm happy to back, because I support a just transition and fixing the UK’s broken energy system so we can mitigate climate breakdown through real solutions.

If Labour is serious about stopping the authoritarian right from filling the vacuum, it must rebuild trust by breaking with the very culture that is feeding public cynicism.

I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrific attack outside a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Jewish community. We must stand together, resolute against antisemitism and hatred in all its forms.

Public disillusionment with the political class isn’t a passing phase.

It's the reality of a system where the dividing line between the state - and wealth, oligarchs and corporate power - has been systematically erased.

One million people have already signed a petition against ID cards.

If we’re serious about rebuilding trust, this is the last place to start.

It's like deciding to become a pacifist and then walking into your roughest local pub and knocking everyone's pints out of their hands.

Along with 60 parliamentarians, I've written to the Prime Minister calling on him to abolish the two-child benefit cap.

This policy continues to inflict severe and avoidable hardship on families across the country. Its abolition must be central to any credible child poverty strategy.
