I see some folks are introducing themselves to the masses on this website. What you might want to know about me is in my profile with one exception.

My wife Carrie passed away in August after battling colon cancer for over two years. This was my tribute to her shortly after her passing.
My favorite Mariners fan
A love story rooted in baseball.

I’ve used Mrs A’s newsletter to reflect on our love affair, her super-fandom, or how she loved being the best Auntie ever. But there’s another aspect of Carrie’s life worthy of mention - her profession.
Carol the Paralegal
Carrie transformed into a "badass" superhero whenever she arrived at work.

Personal news: Today, a judge appointed me co-guardian of the wonderful young lady featured below. Mrs A would be pleased.

Nothing changes with my baseball stuff, which is why most of you follow me. I just felt like sharing something positive going on in our world.

Onward!
The bond between Mrs A. and a girl named Bug was a beautiful thing worth celebrating.
A girl named Bug
It was love at first sight when Carrie met our niece.

After today’s vote, Julio Rodríguez is one top-10 MVP finish away from hitting the next escalator in his contract…8 yrs/$260 million. He’s already at 8 yrs/$240 million.

Of course, this assumes the #Mariners exercise the club option after the 2028 season. 👀

Good morning!

My take on the most volatile part of the #Mariners roster in terms of annual turnover and on-field performance.
Wanted: Bullpen help
As with every offseason, expect an influx of new relievers joining the Mariners and a few familiar faces in the current bullpen pitching elsewhere in 2026.

Business-driven attrition is a reason to reload with new relievers in the offseason. So is reversing the regression the #Mariners bullpen experienced this year.

Good morning!

The #Mariners rotation was closer to league-average than the best in baseball. Can the starting staff rebound? Or, will its regression continue into 2026?
Does the rotation rebound or regress in 2026?
Seattle's rotation boasted a strong reputation it didn't live up to this year. What should we expect from it in 2026?

Some halftime reading…

Decided to discuss the positions I believe the #Mariners will need to address one way or another in the offseason.
Let’s talk position player needs
Seattle is expected to lose three starting position players to free agency without clear-cut replacements in place.

Happy Sunday!

With the offseason upon us, we should discuss position player needs for the #Mariners.

Over the last few days, I’ve discussed the three #Mariners starting position players who project to become free agents next week.

Jorge Polanco: tinyurl.com/mpmnsjs8

Eugenio Suárez: tinyurl.com/3jmf4a99

The Mariners wants to retain Naylor. But they may face stiff competition for his services.

Good morning!

Eugenio Suárez brought good vibes and delivered a memorable grand slam this year. But should the #Mariners attempt to keep the pending free agent in Seattle?
What about Geno?
The good vibes and home run power Eugenio Suárez brings to the table are real and matter. But will the pending free agent return to Seattle?

Good morning!

Jorge Polanco was an important to the #Mariners memorable ALCS run. Should the team attempt to retain the pending free agent?
Does a Jorge Polanco reunion make sense?
Polanco just had one of the most productive seasons of his career. But was it enough to justify keeping him in Seattle.

I took a look at #Mariners pending free agent Josh Naylor’s selling points, plus any potential concerns teams might have with signing him to a long-term deal.

Maybe it’s me. But sometimes, the FOX World Series broadcast sounds more like a podcast or talk show than a baseball game.

Celebrity cameos in the crowd, promotions for upcoming shows, interviews during play. Heck, they even had a musical guest during a game the other night.

For most #Mariners fans, re-signing Josh Naylor is a no-brainer. That said, I decided to consider Naylor’s selling points and potential concerns before forming an opinion.

Originally published this in June 2024. The premise remains relevant, so I’m resharing it with #Mariners fans before the offseason officially gets underway.
Talk is cheap, action speaks
You can't argue with results. Therefore, it's time for Seattle's ownership group to provide some.

Good morning!

I reviewed the #Mariners recent acquisition history to better understand how the front office may attack the offseason. Here’s what I learned…
How will the Mariners approach the offseason?
Promises of adequate financial resources for the front office have been made and broken before. Will this offseason be different?

A rough summer slowed my writing. But it’s time to get back in the saddle. My latest considers the #Mariners recent acquisition history and two possible approaches the team could choose this offseason.

An interesting read regardless of whether you agree with the grades. #Mariners
Postseason Managerial Report Card: Dan Wilson
Wilson and the Mariners found themselves in complicated, difficult situations throughout the playoffs, none bigger than their winner-take-all ALCS Game 7 clash.

I suspect there won’t be the free agent spending spree some #Mariners fans want.

If the 2026 payroll starts where it ended in 2025, that’s a good sign.

Also, extending SP’s who were on the IL is unwise, IMO. That’s “feel good” stuff that doesn’t improve the team next year.
