My biggest concern with Gyökeres is the type of chances he’s getting for us, and the overall lack of volume. He was never going to receive the same number of opportunities he had at Sporting, but we still hoped he’d see enough to make a real impact.

Noni has that rare blend of size/speed/acceleration from a standing start. If he can develop his shot making more he's a nightmare for any fb. The issue for us, his best play is clearly from the right. The way he sets up his dribbles on that side can't be replicated on the left.

MLS is struggling. Unfortunately, he seems to be the type that needs a lot of games and rhythm to be at the level.

Merino also deserves 0% flack for yesterday. There’s nowhere to drop when the middle is clogged and vertical spacing is like 10 yards. There’s nowhere to run when the line pushes you away from goal, and the CBs are way faster than you. Can’t ask him to be a fundamentally different human.

Gut punch. Turned into - you attack, we attack at 1-1. Don't love the subs, you want Saka out there in high pressure moments to offer relief in possession, Noni too loose. Rice and Zubimendi running on empty, why is Norgaard here?

Regardless of how good your back up players are, the lack of continuity always shows up when you lose a partnership. We saw that today at CB.
