Wow, this is great.

Once again, the "real America," or what we hope is real, poking up its head.

“Since AFP was founded in 1944, we have lost journalists in conflicts, some have been injured, others taken prisoner.

But none of us remember witnessing colleagues die of hunger"
A horrifying statement published today by the Editorial Committee of the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency.

"Without immediate intervention, the last reporters in Gaza will die"

It will be like the fabled end of World War II when people ran out into the streets crying with relief —schools emptied out— outbursts of celebration everywhere. Dogs barked with excitement & cats were mildly curious.
You think we took to the streets today?

Wait ‘til the day that treasonous motherfucker drops dead.

We’ll show the world a real parade.

Noem may lack formal military authority, but with material backing from the armed forces, combined with this rhetoric evoking Putin, the US looks to be in the midst of a kind of grey-zone conflict that’s already progressed beyond what you could reasonably call a soft civil war.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

You have no obligation to defend or explain the behavior of random street protesters. We have a lawless government that is flagrantly violating its legal, moral, even philosophical obligations to us. Everything else is secondary

What a brave and brilliant orator.
From the LosAngeles community on Reddit: Not sure who he is, but the way he spoke to the National Guard really hit .had to share it here.

The legal risk of violent protest has gone up in ways the public doesn't widely appreciate.

I recently was a prosecutor in the Philly DA's office. I spent a lot of time reviewing pole camera video, footage from police street surveillance cameras.

THOSE CAMERAS ARE POWERFUL. THERE ARE MANY OF THEM.

Trump insists on being the dumbest & most uninformed US president ever, causing the US tremendous damage, while enriching himself through dubious deals. What Trump has got wrong:
1. He claims that everybody has "ripped the US off," but the US GDP is 25% of global GDP as in 1980. /1

Marathon thread explaining
how Pope Leo's first sermon in office takes direct aim at the immensely damaging "American heresy".
Pope Leo's first sermon and, uh, his using the phrase "be ever more fully a city set upon a hill" and cf'ing it to Rev 21:10 instead of any of the others before saying "many baptized Christians" are "living in a state of practical atheism" is. Well. Shots fired!

Read Pope Leo XIV's first homily as pope
During his homily, delivered in Italian, Leo XIV said that Christians must serve a world that is often hostile to their beliefs.

Not the first time I've said it, but I do think we should sit with the fact that the folks likeliest to have predicted we'd elect a reality TV president who'd create a fascist police state where people would be put into unmarked vans for criticizing Israel have been widely ridiculed my entire life.

Former Pence homeland security advisor 👇🏽
Not one reporter asked about the Executive Orders targeting Chris Krebs & Miles Taylor during today’s Cabinet press conference. Not one. A president using DOJ to punish those who spoke out? That’s banana republic territory. I waited. The question never came.
Why? Has the fear already taken hold?

I think it might be good for Christians to experience a full year of the sort of relentless persecution Christians have always subjected others to, just so they could finally experience this “persecution” they insist that they and only they receive.
Interesting story that gets to the heart of why many Christians feel persecuted in the U.S.: The secular elite find many of their views abhorrent and uncouth
