One of the dangers of this is that it actually inoculates people against that criticism. For example with feminism they have seen a weak and compromised version of feminism. So when they encounter a real "radical" feminism they are able to brush it off as something empty and meaningless.

Something about engaging with alt-right stuff is that it's kind of a form of self-harm. Some people who do it are legitimately just evil, but a lot of them have some sort of undiagnosed neurodivergency which makes it more difficult for them to interact with the world.
