I Wish I Could
I wish I could just lock the doors and stop feeling so stressed, I wish I could fix my flaws and not feel so depressed. I wish I could put time on pause and try to outrun death, I wish I could pull his claws completely out my chest. I wish I could hide from his jaws and hope that he’ll forget I wish I could just be yours and feel forever blessed. But one day he'll find me and sink his teeth into my neck, and he'll drain all of my soul until there's nothing of me left. But one day he'll take me and strip me from your warm embrace, and he'll leave me in the cold, he'll leave me in that lonely place. And I don't want to die, I don't want to die, I don't want to die, I don't want to die.

This is why I keep telling authors to have their own websites and to maintain a presence outside of any platform. You own it, and you can't be silenced on it. Issues remain, even with self-hosting, but it is an important tool.

And maybe the goal of building our own platforms, becoming harder to censor, harder to scrub, fire and silence, is not compatible with reaching the maximum number of people. Maybe being a little harder to find is not always a bad thing. I don’t know.
