I’ve often and loudly proclaimed that The Strangers (2008) is incredibly offensive to me because it’s based on real life events. Now, this is somewhat bold and contradictory of me, considering I have an entire brand and podcast focused on exploring the history of horror. buff.ly/ubKRcfy

I recently watched Don't Open till Christmas (1984). It's a fun, gritty, brutal, campy slasher movie from the United Kingdom. I've been looking to get out of my holiday horror shell, and this was a fun watch.

As most horror fans are aware, the genre is more well known for its depiction of violence against women than it is for the limited feminist work within it. That being said, there are some great feminist horror movies out there:

I keep complaining to Alan this season that I’m not in the holiday spirit. So I woke up this morning, made coffee and put on a Don’t Open till Christmas (1984).
