Another batch of “little plastic guys” as my wife calls them. This time, Efreet Flamecasters for Conquest. I tend to paint minis following the box art because I buy minis as much for the color schemes as the sculpts. Enjoy some flame flingin’ djinn.

I took a break from painting to assemble this big fella - a Mahut for Conquest: Last Argument of Kings. As is my style, it was very averagely assembled, with several pieces not quite fitting perfectly. (And not due to the manufacturer.)

Before: miniature ruined with flaky haze from malfunctioning spray matte sealer.
After: I brushed on a couple of coats of Vallejo satin varnish and the result, while not perfect, has been salvaged for the tabletop.

Random but: the amazing thing about making art for your own games, whether you consider yourself an artist or not, is that as soon as you make a piece of art? You are an artist. Whether you’re a “good artist” is entirely out of your hands, and always will be. All you can do is throw yourself at it.

Almost done with 3 Swamp Stingers for Shadows of Brimstone. It really shows how important a finished base is - by showing the lack of one!

Working on a couple of Big’uns tonight. WIP - Nomads Lizard and GoPod.
I put down my paintbrush for awhile to design some terrain. I whomped up corner pieces in openSCAD and printed them out. Should work for MDF or foamcore. Holes for magnets, too. You’ll have to imagine some Greebles and a coat of paint.

Had a wedding yesterday night, but was able to pack a few things to paint with so spent the day painting some miniatures while overlooking a beautiful Alabama lake.

Pre-9/11, I was able to take my miniature paints tackle box and a pile of minis onto the plane and I painted a mess of night goblins in flight. Now? Flight was delayed an hour just as we walked into the airport and I all I can do is read rules. Nowhere near as fun.
