Ok, I feel like I'm being made part of an in-joke I'm not familiar with.
January 24, 2026 at 9:03 AM
Don't know who that is.
January 24, 2026 at 8:56 AM
What a revealing way to frame the question! I'm not really into superhero comics, so nearly all the stuff I love falls into that category. Let me recommend Talk to my Back, by Yamada Murasaki, as an example.

That's a gross way to look at things.
January 24, 2026 at 6:25 AM
It was not like that, really. I just liked to draw, as lots of kids do, and just never stopped. Then I'm high-school I decided I wanted to make videogames and didn't know if to study art or computer science. Went for the first because it was "my thing".

My cover for Paramour, an Orbital Blues Adventure, by @chrisair.itch.io and @unenthuser.bsky.social. I'm doing more pieces for it too, and it's being a blast.

And here are the results! I went for a transparent and pink look, and I'm very happy with how it turned out ^^
January 17, 2026 at 9:52 PM
After a quick test with AA batteries to confirm that the new screen works, I added the buttons and an USB rechargeable battery.
January 17, 2026 at 9:49 PM
Next step was to place the display on the top lid of the case, stick its controller board to its back, and connect the board to the motherboard with the ribbon cable of the previous post.

Also, forgive me for the verb-tense inconsistencies on the thread. I'm a punk.
January 17, 2026 at 9:43 PM
Now I start the process of adding the new IPS, backlit, laminated screen by adding its ribbon cable.

This display can be controlled by the touch sensor you can see protruding from the cable, but I also solder three wires that will allow me to change its settings using the physical buttons.
January 17, 2026 at 9:38 PM
I then de-soldered the original speaker and installed this new one in. This is just for aesthetic purposes, as its colors will fit better the rest of the new plastic pieces I'm going to use.
January 17, 2026 at 9:34 PM
The first step was to remove the top and bottom of the plastic case and the buttons. I then cleaned it's brains, which is what I'm gonna use for the new GBA.

They were quite dirty, but again, no damage otherwise.
January 17, 2026 at 9:31 PM
When I was a teen, I bought this second hand GBA. As you can see, its aesthetic condition is not ideal: the screen is scratched, the plastic yellowed, the battery lid is not the original one and the sticker is falling of.

But it works perfectly, and this is a thread of how I recently restored it ~*
