Windowless room may be more productive, but I am writing where the bees are today.

Scholarship check coming in today…spawned tears. He so deserves it. For 28 years I have had at least one child in my home. For many years as a single parent, too. Now that they are all off chasing dreams, time to remember what mine are. I am not done yet. I never will be. But I suddenly have time.

Curiosity might just kill the cat today. My pitcher 😭 Get a Maine Coon I said. So intelligent and trainable I said.

Exhibit A- the place she is trained to not go. Exhibit B- the f-s she gives. Exhibit C - the mugshot w/the plea of innocence.

His voice, when it came, was for something bigger than himself. Timeless.
The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe.

Will we listen to his words today?

Editing a short. Character’s name feels off — Character name is in a well known book I have read multiple x’s (been years).
I would blame it on chemo brain, but I remember in the 90’s creating a character named China Phillips. To my chagrin, a friend in a fit of laughter pointed out the obvious. 📚💙

If the US were in a literary novel, this would be one of the book’s major symbols. Jaqueline Kennedy’s historic garden for the people- representing American history, diplomacy, and civic beauty being smothered. 📚💙

Two of the banned books bricks I had made for my garden. Five coming total. If anyone else wants to support a small business and wants their own bricks for their garden I can share the Etsy seller.

I wiped some of this deterrent spray on the shelf because in her attempt to co-opt the space with my seedlings she has destroyed some brushing in and stepping on and nibbled on others. This is how well the deterrent works 🙄🤦‍♀️

The generation that blasted Twisted Sister in their bedrooms now thinks drag queens are ‘grooming’ kids. Y’all were fine in the ‘80s—quit pretending this is new.

Tomorrow Jan 20th an American hero will be honored and he will always be remembered with much esteem. He earned history’s respect and carried himself with dignity and grace.

Happy Birthday Dr King.

From a desk calendar my wife gave me for Christmas:

"You can't judge people only by how they treat you. The true test of character is how they treat those they don't like or need."

A true indicator of goodness, and leadership.
