A collection of moths trying to cosplay a human interdisciplinary artist. MedSci escapee, always drawing, in my chaos-bisexual-enby-hag era. Paintmaker. Moth, disability, & art-related sh*t-posting. https://linktr.ee/lycomorpha & lycomorpha.etsy.com

Bemused at all the people suddenly following me, so uhh.

Hi? Here's some things to know.

I swear a lot. If you're offended by words like wankspangled knobcockle, I'm not for you.

I post many moths & other bugs. I talk/yell about alt text, chronic life, pencils, & paint. I post paint-making a lot…
A colour pencil drawing of an imaginary emperor moth. It has wide, fuzzy wings that are mint green with a cream border and red wavy horizontal stripes. There are also startling eye spots, one on each wing. Its body is also green and very, very fluffy. It has thin comb-like antennas. Although it is a fictional species it's still a very good moth friend.

OMFGs that's hilarious! Cocker-poo sounds like one of my friggin swearwords or summat. 😂😂😂

Has it? Is this something I wanna google or is it grim? 😬

& I need a hashtag for these so I can find and share dice doodles/pattern doodles/etc.

Any ideas?

..."OK but you do that all the time anyway sooo... 🤷"

Had to ask them to be less accurate, because purleez. 😂 🤣

(They're not wrong tho... See past posts about explaining moth flight to clinical newbies who thought moths were daft, etc etc.)
lycomorpha.bsky.social
I did not feel safe TBH (any clinicians here, pls don't do that) so I deflected to talking about moths & insect gynandromorphs. As u do.

My friend asked if it was alright int end & I said "yeah but it'd be nice if clinicians didn't do that & I didn't have to switch to moths to escape"

& They said…

You ever feel both seen & incredibly called out?

Was talking to a friend about the feeling while waiting for treatment, & somehow all the theatre staff were straight cis dudes who I'm not out to

& They started asking about the 'trans thing' int news, whether I thought non-binaryness is real etc…

Repetitive pattern doodle in the out of date diary today. Just diagonal lines of repeating shapes & lines.

This kinda doodle also looks nice when you scale it up & make it neat.

The shapes in these big drawing contain tiny Morse code letters that spell 'repetition is relaxing'. I love drawing CW.
A doodle on an out of date diary page made of repeating shapes and lines in a grid. The way they're drawn in ink and pencil creates diagonal lines of alternating circles, triangles, and squares, each with markings in and around them. A larger and tidier grid pattern, using the same principles as the first one. It's an 11 by 11 grid with each cell containing nested circles in colourful ink. There are smaller circles at the vertices that are connected by thin black lines. There are tiny black Morse code letters drawn in the circ lol es as described in the post. Another larger and tidier grid pattern in different colours, using the same principles as the first one. It's an 11 by 11 grid with each cell containing nested circles in colourful ink. There are smaller circles at the vertices. There are tiny black Morse code letters drawn in the circ lol es as described in the post.

Today we highlight Mai & her kids, just one of the six families partnered with the giving circle. Fleeing the north was difficult enough, but they’re still malnourished and now freezing at night in their tent.

I just saw someone use the abbreviation “AI;DR” and I’ll be laughing for a while.

Last week I did a lot of arbitrary cellular doodles, & it occurred to me I could make some cell games that could go with microscopy workshops.

(I run BioSci/MedSci-themed art workshops sometimes, & bring microscopes & slides. Watching people see cells for the 1st time is always so cool!)
Another cellular doodle, this time showing one big, complex, colourful cell surrounded by smaller, simpler cells. The complicated cell has lots of pseudopodia and membrane proteins, and a big red heart symbol in the middle of the nucleus. The simple cells are smooth ovals, each with a nucleus and a sleepy smiling face on it. A page filled with multiple cells on an olive green background. Each cell has a big red nucleus, multiple organelles, and multiple pseudopodia. They're arranged in a kinda patchwork pattern.

Cell doodle games from my out of date diary the past week.

Uses a D6 to decide cell shape & contents:

- number of 'arms'/pseudopodia

- how many lobes the nucleus has

- no. of internal compartments/imaginary organelles

- smooth or fuzzy membrane (odd/even)

- spots or stripes in compartments.
Cellular doodles on an out of date diary page. Six colourful imaginary cells, each with a slightly different shape, a nucleus and some intracellular compartments have been drawn using the rules given in the post. They're drawn in ink in black, grey, olive green, red, and blue. Another cellular doodle like the previous pic but this time it's one big cell taking up a whole page. It has 7 pseudopodia, a double lobed nucleus, 5 stripey internal compartments, and lots of little proteins sticking out of its membrane.

If you get into the weeds of how many non-white faces/people not speaking English is acceptable, you've already lost. Make them explain *why* the scenario they've imagined is a bad thing.

See, these kinds of claims are the ones you can't tackle with pointing out the obvious lie, because that cedes the basic argument to them. You have to take them at their word and then calmly ask, "So why was that a problem for you?"

I love vivianite so much. I like the grey and green varieties too, but this is definitely the bluest one I've got right now!

Studio manager is starting inspections early today, I see. Void-Floof is a hard taskmaster. 😹🐾
A very fluffy longhaired black cat with yellow eyes has its front paws up on my legs, claws out. Good job I wear jeans. The fluffy longhaired black cat sitting on a lino floor looking up with a stern, serious expression. The fluffy longhaired black cat sashaying through the studio with a magnificent blep going on.
