Would you like to order a little picture of a robot? I'm offering commissions of existing robots in a new style that can use as icons for stuff or whatever you like! Prices start at £20 per picture. Contact me on here if you're interested.
Teabot - a robot in the form of a mug of tea with little tracks on either side - rolling up next to a stack of books with covers in different colours. The books are The Sign of the Four, Guards! Guards!, Feet of Clay, and A Study in Scarlet. The scene is against a background of a turquoise circle. Snakebot - a robot in the form of a snake, with a long, banded body and a little sphere on its tail - coiled up around itself, sticking out its forked tongue and looking kind of angry, against a background of a grey square. Crabbot - a robot in the form of a little crab with banded arms and legs and mitten-like claws - rearing up and holding its arms in the air angrily. The background is a grey circle. Bigbot, viewed from below, stomping along. The background is a pinkish rectangle and Bigbot seems to be smashing its way out, as one side of it is fragmented into pieces where it's been kicked.

My one weird trick for paying less tax, btw, is to not earn enough to have to.
smolrobots.bsky.social
Yeah, a close relative of mine was an accountant with a... let's say, 'knack for creative arithmetic' (to the extent of spending a year inside for getting *too* creative) and they were offering to look at my records to see if there was any advantages I was missing out on. No thanks!

Funny how morality and neurotype work in non-intuitive ways. Had a phone call with my brother the other day, and he was urging me to do various things to make myself more "tax efficient" and I was repulsed.

Unusual amount of pig-based content from me today.
smolrobots.bsky.social
(This was most common in China and the Indian subcontinent, where there were actual latrines built to empty into pigsties, but everywhere there were pigs they were used to dispose of food waste at the very least.)
smolrobots.bsky.social
It's said that pigs are the only domestic animals raised solely for their meat, but actually they did serve a useful function as waste disposal before the widespread adoption of indoor plumbing. They'll eat you because they'll eat *anything*.
faineg.bsky.social
i have met a number of pigs, including pigs i later went on to eat (we have small farmers in our family) and quite frankly, getting to know pigs has made me feel even less bad about eating them

they would 100% eat us if given the chance

The elderly pig in Christmas Carol who says, "Oh, wonderful game!" in an incredibly weird voice.

1591) Lesbianbot. Is just a tiny lesbian!
A small, spherical robot with banded arms and legs and an antenna. The bobble of the antenna has a little female symbol on it, and the robot is lifting up its arms, smiling joyfully with its eyes closed.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

You know who doesn't integrate? People like Robert Jenrick. You think he works out at the local leisure centre? Goes to the Tuesday night pub quiz? You think his golf club lets anyone play? Or his private members' clubs let anyone in? He puts the ick in prick

Also she's barely fucking aged in 27 years.
smolrobots.bsky.social
Like, one day, she's going to be more famous than literally everyone else on the programme. On all their programmes in fact.
smolrobots.bsky.social
She's just some singer called Beyoncé in one of a dozen interchangeable girl bands, and if you were around at the time, you do get to experience that weird double-vision thing of knowing what the future would hold.
smolrobots.bsky.social
But you do get stuff like Zoe Ball introducing Destiny's Child as a relatively new act and Beyoncé is just, like...in the band. I mean, it's obvious where the focus is, but she's not "Beyoncé" yet, you know?

Interestingly, BBC 4 are currently working their way through 1998, which was peak "first getting into music" era for me, and I'm getting to see the stuff emerge like I did back then, which is a slightly different sensation.

Always get a weird sense of vertigo like this when watching TOTP repeats. Introducing some iconic band as, "Here with their follow-up hit..."

Sometimes I like to think about how there are people still alive today to whom something like Another One Bites The Dust is just a record that came out at one point
smolrobots.bsky.social
(I just found it funny that people with the same name would be rivals for the friendship of the person that knew them both.)
smolrobots.bsky.social
(I don't know where I got that "other, rival" formulation from - it's probably a Simpson's bit, statistically speaking - but I used to say it whenever someone had the same name as someone else. "He's another, *rival* John.")
smolrobots.bsky.social
No robot today, sorry. I have some other, rival bits of work to do.

1429) Vonbot. Mysterious European aristocratbot who's very keen to have you for dinner in its unnecessarily large gothic mansion. #SmallRobotsRemonstered #Halloween
An ovoid robot with banded arms and legs and an antenna. It's wearing a dark, high-collared cape with a scalloped hem, and its antenna has little bat wings on it. It's holding a Winebot filled with dark liquid, which is smiling evilly. Vonbot itself is extending one arm towards the frame, has a raised eyebrow and a crooked smile that reveals two small fangs. Vonbot isn't casting a shadow, but the Winebot is.
