This Ken Russell double feature was a wild one:
The Lair of the White Worm (1988)
Altered States (1980) …

Happy Halloween! I dressed up as Columbia from Rocky Horror Picture Show recently. Not a perfect replica costume, but it was a fun treasure hunt around Portland:
- Hat: Lippman Co.
- Bow tie: Metro Boutique
- Jacket: Hollywood Vintage (I haggled on this one!)
- Corset: ok this one was eBay …

Intermission. Second time seeing this play in the last 5ish years? It’s gorgeous. 🩰🧛🩸

Last night’s movie: My Bloody Valentine (1981). Hadn’t seen this one previously — consider me a new fan. It clearly took inspiration from its slasher predecessors (Halloween, Friday the 13th), but really managed to be its own thing. The coal miner outfit was effectively creepy. #horrorsky

Last night I watched Scanners for the first time. 1980-81 were great years for horror. Husband and I were both fans of this Cronenberg classic, I think moreso than Videodrome.

Another high school sleepover favorite of mine: House (1985). I think some of the most skeptical of horror movies could stomach this one. It’s like 90% silly. (And a commentary of sorts about processing Vietnam war trauma.)

I could watch the original Fright Night 8,000 times and never get tired of it. One of my original sleepover movies in high school 🧛‍♂️🩸

The remake was ok, but I’ll take the original over it any day.

One Battle After Another is cinematic excellence and truly a movie for this moment. Go see it at @hollywoodtheatre.org, the only theater in the Pacific Northwest showing it in 70mm film.

Last night’s sunset was pretty. The leaves are already changing and falling.

#Portland area foodies, be sure to check out the new Filipino spot in Fubon called #Balong. It‘s got a small menu but the food is made with big, big love.

Had a lovely time finally going to the Oktoberfest in Mt. Angel, something that has been on my Oregon bucket list for a while. ♥️🍻 Fun performances, good food and beer — all the ingredients for a great night out with friends. Highly recommend.

Update from #KaiserPermanente about #COVID19 #vaccine access for its members in #Oregon. I’m guessing an update from @tinakotek.bsky.social forthcoming

Despite the odd weather, we still had a lovely day at Crater Lake. We originally wanted to do Ride the Rim, but abandoned it as the weather soured — mainly because we had our dog with us and it felt too dangerous. We still managed a good amount of hiking. 🥾 Maribel had a great time.

Mount Theilsen through the windshield — it looked particularly ominous under the storm clouds.

The stormy weather offered up spectacular cloud formations as the sun still fought to shine through. This particular photo was taken in La Pine around sunset.

Finally went inside of the Blockbuster in Bend. Amazing. Brought back many memories of my two years working at a Blockbuster from 2008-2010ish. Worked there when it closed for good. Got tons of movies. Then, with regret, sold them all when I moved to OR.

Visiting my parents in central Pennsylvania most certainly means a mountain ride to some visita in the middle of nowhere. It’s been gorgeous here — ngl, I am happy to be missing Portland’s 100-degree heatwave.

I didn’t take many photos during the climb. I did bring my film camera and took more photos with that, so I’ll be excited to get those developed eventually. Occasionally clouds would pass through during the way up, providing a very spooky vibe. I should identify these plants, but for now:
