Retired, married for ages, based in Normandie but usually in a motorhome somewhere else. Love music, festivals, sewing, cooking. Native English and deeply embarrassed about it. Fluent in French, less so in Dutch and German, restaurant Spanish and Italian.
Bonjour Guy et l' #ORChestra from Paris. Saw some Xmas markets and went to our fave bistro on the Rive Gauche. Cosy, cheap, interesting clientele. Y'day we sat next to a couple from Wales who do bronze die-casting at festivals. Today we move on to Nancy, home of mirabelles. Have a great day, all

They're all over the markets in France, most of them come from Italy at the moment.

11 inches. Reader, I married him.

I don't mind them really, but OH gets the rage if they disturb his sleep. Same with barky dogs.

How awful for you! Ours is well out of warranty at 15 years old, so we take it to a local garage who we trust. He keeps saying he doesn't do motorhomes, but he's managed to fix anything that's gone wrong with the engine. 🤞🏻 for you that you get your motorhome back soon. We'd struggle without ours!

Bonjour from a toasty warm motorhome at a quiet aire in Meule sur Sarthe. Or it was until the Sunday church bells started, followed by loud woodpigeons. On our way to Paris today because I never need an excuse, and OH has found a Xmas market we've not been to yet. Have a great day, all!

Try the yellow ones. I find them much nicer, not quite so gritty. YMMV.

I wish you luck and hope I can find similar - our trips to visit Mum in Spain and family in England mean I can never commit to a ten week term for choirs, and I'm usually away for the Christmas singing events. A drop-in choir would be ideal!

Bonjour ORCs. Amazingly no hangover from last night's pre Christmas dinner, but a lot of washing up to do. Today I shall be singing Christmas songs in practice for tonight's folk evening, and packing the motorhome ready for our little Christmas market tour tomorrow. Have a great day, all!

A useful reminder. We got our flu and COVID jabs the first week of the campaign.

Absolument. Now my hair is a lot shorter than it has been since I was 12, I felt like hiding the grey roots with something fabulous. I might change my mind in the New Year, but it's much less of a faff than when my hair almost reached my waist!

Ah, charity shop finds are the best, aren't they? Slim pickings for clothes round here in my size. I got a Phase Eight grey beaded evening dress for a tenner in Camden about ten years ago, and it's still perfect, still gets an outing every so often. Retail price must have been in the hundreds.

Thank you! In the midst of all the prep I decided to dye my hair. It'll all be fine, and if it isn't, candlelight is very flattering 🥂🎄🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️

Bonjour! Today we are hosting a pre-Christmas Christmas dinner with friends and we're already behind schedule... Have a great day, all!

I've got a "no.1 son asks questions" WhatsApp group. Some of my faves are: what's the French for semi skimmed milk? Where can I buy a backgammon set in Barcelona? And what's the best place to buy racing chain lube in Marseille? He must be managing OK this week in Singapore; I haven't had a msg yet.

Bonjour Caroline et les ORCs. Weak sunshine and unseasonably warm here. Today contains painting the gite bathroom, prep for Thursday's pre Xmas dinner, practising some songs for Friday's folk night, and loading the motorhome for our trip on Saturday. Busy busy! Have a great day, all.

It was a terminal and keyboard attached to a phone line where you could browse for info on pages a bit like Ceefax, buy things, and have an online mailbox. It was wildly successful in France but nowhere else. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minitel

Bonjour Guy et Les ORCs. Wet and windy here. The Xmas cake was tested and pronounced v good. However, it may mean there is none left by actual Xmas if OH gets the munchies! Have a great day, all.

yum. Yep, jellied eels are just too...grey and slimy, and bony too. However, back to Dutch things, smoked eel is a thing of beauty.

Aw, how lovely. We've been listening to her Christmas songs on repeat for the past few days as a substitute for not being able to get to any of her concerts this season, but I will be singing Cranbrook at the local folk night next week in her honour!
