I will likely be recruiting a new postdoc early next year, working on protein allostery (can be either method development or applications). Please reach out to my GT email address if interested.

It's definitely worth reading this book if you are interested in Iranian history.

I am reading Scott Anderson's "King of Kings", and it's really good so far. He actually understands Iran, in a way that most Western don't. Good analysis of the factors that led to the Revolution, and the tug of war between the Shah's paranoia and police state and his push for modernization.

Feeling kind of homesick after coming back from a week in Sweden, sniff. Thanks to Aleksandra and Per-Olof for a great FEBS course and to all my awesome colleagues in Lund for a really productive week.

Jane, you absolute bad-ass.

Thank you for your life and your work.

Thank you for your compassion for the people, and the animals that we share this world with.

We were needlessly worried all day about one of our red pandas not eating. We had no idea Dave is Jewish.

Turned my phone on after Yom Kippur to the news from Manchester. I have been to that Synagogue, many years ago. There are no words to describe the anger I feel right now.

Sentimental being in Geneva, even if only the airport. My parents lived here nearly half a century ago, and if they hadn't moved to England soon before I arrived I would have been born here.

My students are absolutely gutted about the sudden NSF GRFP eligibility changes, both the second year who waited until this year to have pubs and the first year who was planning to do the same and now has to get an application together in 6 weeks.

Molecular fossils may not always be what they seem.

“Just as archaeologists know to be careful in how they interpret physical fossils, historians of protein evolution could take similar care in their interpretation of molecular fossils.”

Trying to think of a more offensive thing to say than "Have you heard The Good News?" on Rosh Hashanah.

"This isn't a problem in Linux..." may be close and more generally applicable.
